  1. Businesses don't pay taxes. Instead, all taxes supposedly levied on businesses are passed down the line of production as price increases on what consumers pay for products and services they consume; in effect, they are an invisible tax burden on everyone--rich and poor--in the nation. Ending "business" taxes--even if it meant increasing taxes on individuals--would lower product prices, make the actual tax burden that a person bears more transparent, and encourage business development in the nation, spurring the economy. Creating a business environment where business owners no longer needed to spend billions of dollars a year finding an exploiting tax…

  2. We cannot continue to believe that we have an endless supply of funding for all of the things we try to do. The national debt is not just a number, it represents the reality that our leaders and we as a nation are not at all financially responsible. We have a few options - raise taxes, do less, or actually reform the budget to cut down on the rampant misappropriation of the money we do have.

  3. There is no way Obama can pay for all of the "change" he has promised without totally destroying our financial system.
Its funny how nobody put 2 and 2 together during his whole campaign. All you dumbasses could hear was "CHANGE, CHANGE, CHANGE". Well, you wanted it, you got it. Watch your beloved candidate back peddle on almost all of his policies.

  4. This pristine part of our country has been threatened by this administration and members of Congress throughout this administration. We must once and for all provide it with the protection it deserves.

  5. Not everyone can be the best teacher, but we can try to document the best teachers in the country and allow students the opportunity to telecommute to any of their lessons.

The Videos can be an award for outstanding teachers and we can give those teachers a huge national award, say for the best lesson on simple addition, multiplication, the Gettysburg address, etc... This library of videos and knowledge can then be used to either help train other teachers, or for students directly. Universities like MIT and Standford are experimenting with ideas like these by putting their coursework online, but…

  6. Something needs to be done so that our broadcast media is not simply platforms for advertising, but rather a source of information and news. It may be time to re-regulate the media industry so that five or six companies no longer control our televisions, newpapers and our radio.

  7. Jerimiah Owyang tallied social networking stats for the candidates showing a huge advantage to Obama. Now Gene Koo writes that Congress, not Obama, needs a Geek Corps.

What a wonderful idea. I’d love to help “rework the interface between legislators and their constituencies: to rebuild trust and honest, genuine relationships between lawmakers and We the People.”

  10. I would like to see the United States be seen as a respected nation in the world view again. It seems that no one else likes us and I really can't blame them. Lets show the rest of the world we're a responsible nation that is still the land of freedom and opportunity.

  14. One of the worst side effects of a nasty campaign is the disillusioned voters that didn't win. Important sections of the community are actually scared that Obama will be President. I think most of this is caused by all the reaches the Republican part had to make in order to stay in the race at all. Negative ads, rumors, etc.

So, tell these good people that you're not going to take all their money and give it to people who don't want to work and want to live off of the government. Tell them that their 2nd Amendment rights are…

  15. The cheapest, safest and easiest way to improve (voter confidence in) electronic voting is to open-source it. It's win-win on so many levels. Any hardware certification must include the clause that if a newer version is released, the machine is automatically de-certified and the current version must be visible.

  16. I am South African. In my opinion, one of the big problems of the previous ruling party was a 'disconnect' from the world's voices. More than that, it was the pursuit of an agenda that differs from the people that it serves. This happens here in South Africa as well, so its not unique.

My suggestion (as outsider affected indirectly) would be to create mechanisms for listening, and tools for responding and feedback. Clear, simple ones... like this one!! This will earn USA the global respect it so richly deserves...

  18. The automated payment tax (APTtax.com) is a tax program that puts the burden of taxes on banks and payment authorities. The idea is simple, whenever you transfer fund between any two accounts, there is a 0.3% tax. The tax can be so low because there are so many transactions. The best part is that people who make money from money are usually taxed more heavily, while people that work for it are taxed less. If you want to read more about the Automated Payment Tax please visit apttax.com.

  19. Currently Health insurance billing is really messed up and in a number of cases health insurance companies reject bills from health care providers for a number of silly reasons like punctuation, etc... We need to standardize the medical billing industry and bills that pass the standard, will be required to be payed. The web has complex validation software for things like CSS, XHTML, HTML 4.01 transitional, argh, well its complicated. There is no reason that a validation engine for medical bills could not be built and maintained by the government.

  20. A new system of highways would SAVE LIVES (about 41,000 a year), allow for goods and services to get to market faster, and allow for electric cars as the view of the car as a status symbol diminished. You would just get in the next car some day because you rent time. Current technologies for self driving cars require them to interact with people driven cars, but a infrastructure where only computer driven cars were allowed would allow the cars to communicate with "ground traffic control" and each other.

This would help the automotive industry, where people would want to…
