Dump the current stimulus package
Mr President.....please just exercise your authority. This Congress is a dinosaur! All the multi millionaires and career "hogs" dining at the public trough on our taxes need to be "led" not listened to by your administration.
Dump the current stimulus proposal,.take charge sir ,and just declare a moratorium on payment ALL income taxes for the balance of 2009.....
stop giving money to banks , wall street and states, create a temporary staff similar to the RTC of the 80s... finance the foreclosed homes and auction them off. Residential real estate is the real "backbone" of the US economy...support it at…3 votes -

stimulus of the entrepreneur class
I have reviewed most of the stimulus package and the lion share remains allocated to public works projects and old economic development tactics. Where is the new ideas and investment behind the minds that will create sustainable value. Yes for my money, I want the return to be sustainable. Public works is a short term solution that lacks vision and real leadership.

Rove should testify under oath. No deals!
It is vital, crucial for our democracy that Rove be forced to testify under oath, especially concerning his alleged involvement in the Siegelman prosecution. This should not be allowed to get swept under the rug. We must ensure as a country that Rove is held accountable for the kinds of activities he has spearheaded or been a party to. The Obama administration has a moral obligation to honor Obama's campaign promises. I believe strongly that this should include accepting NO DEALS that allow Rove to escape testifying under oath.

Lower taxes by ending pension plans for government employees
The private sector has discontinued pension plans (and 401K matches) at most company's, yet the public sector still provides large pensions at the tax payers expense. It is time for the government to act responsibly and become lean like the private sector.

Campaign Finance Reform
This is the single biggest long term problem we face. Publicly funded elections would reduce the obligations to special interests. The representative would then be more inclined to represent those who elected him/her than those who contributed large sums to their campaign.

The way to fight a contemporary war is with intelligence.
Using an army with this type of war does not work. It drains our country's funds and resources. The Bush administration was tricked into doing what terrorists wanted, which was to waste our money and give them a chance to harm more or our men and women. The best way to fight this war is to withdraw our troops, use our technology for intelligence to carry out strategic well informed attacks on terrorist groups, to track and disarm the attacks on us, and launch a campaign aimed at the masses to help them see that the terrorist groups in their…

Voting machine software must be open-source
The cheapest, safest and easiest way to improve (voter confidence in) electronic voting is to open-source it. It's win-win on so many levels. Any hardware certification must include the clause that if a newer version is released, the machine is automatically de-certified and the current version must be visible.

Real partnerships with other countries
No one-sided deals, if we get their oil of whatever it is that we want from them let's truly rebuild their country, why do we need to always do this on the back of an "invasion". We have to stop our "kick down the front door and bring flowers" two-faced approach to bettering the world. The same goes for all the puppet dictators and regimes we support.

One bill, One purpose
Amend the constitution, or set a presidential policy for one bill, one purpose. So many pork projects and wasteful spending items get tacked onto other important bills to garner support.
One bill, one purpose means exactly what it says. If you're going to have an education funding bill, there shouldn't be military spending in it. If you're going to pass a security bill, there shouldn't be funds for a museum in Iowa in it.
If something can't pass on its own, it shouldn't pass. Period.

Change the American Corporate Mindset
All of this talk of a bail-out for Detroit automakers misses the most fundamental point and that is the corporate culture that brought these huge companies to this sorry state of affairs. There is no public purpose served in saving them unless we can simultaneously restructure the manner in which top executives are awarded bonuses. At present they are only rewarded for short term, immediate gains and this is often at the expense of long-term strategy. Surely there’s a way to structure a bonus so that it is only good if the company is substantially better off in 5 or…

don't like the stimulus package
President Obama, I'm thrilled that we have your intelligence in office, I'm not happy with what the House passed last week. Wow! Don't call it stimulus, it isn't, lets put another name on it. Lets take a look at our history and what has not worked.
We really need a "real" stimulus, something to create jobs. There is a downward spiral of job less.2 votes -
Federal Grants
I think there needs to be an actual government website listing all the grants available to the people. What kind are available, where and how to apply and what critera needs to be met. There are many companys advertising they have this information but much of their information is outdated and all require a fee in addition to a monthly membership. This information should be free to the american people.

Assault Weapons Ban
Stop the violence. There is no need to have assault weapons and too many reasons to ban them. As the population continues to increase and the stresses become more complex, these weapons only increase the danger for everyone. They do not provide any kind of necessary protection. Ban them as soon as possible.
