Allow the people true power, to vote presidents out too
Don't get me wrong, I'm happy he's president. But the process sucks. Once we vote in someone, it's almost impossible to vote him/her out. The past 8 years prove that this process sucks and doesn't give the "power to the people." If Obama wants to do something radical, give us the power to vote him out (not that I want anyone to do that).

The thing is, the US is not a Democracy, it's a Republic. Our Constitution is set up to protect us against the rule of the majority against the minority. We have the ability to get rid of a President - it's impeachment. A similar INDIRECT way as how we vote him or her in. I agree about your number 3 but we'd have had the VICE president then - which I think would have been even worse!

What a great idea! With the first controversy the Republicans could launch a recall effort! This worked so well in California! Let's make it national! The T-Bill would have junk bond status just like CA. Yeah, that'll work.

I've been thinking about this tempting suggestion - but not sure it's a good idea. Sometimes we need a LEADER and not just a follower of public opinion. There's the wisdom of crowds, but certainly also the stupidity of crowds. I think this might be hugely destabilizing and disruptive - "popular coup d'etat"... but after these past 8 years, I get the sentiment for sure!
