Improve the economy by creating green jobs
We need jobs that will last. We need to reduce our dependence on foreign energy supplies. We need to reduce our impact on the environment. Work on all three issues by creating jobs in green industries: Conservation--improve energy efficiency in homes, schools and businesses; Green energy sources--wind, solar, biomass; Green transportation--mass transit, improved biking and walking, more efficient private vehicles (hybrid, solar, total electric, etc)

Get rid of Sec. Robert Gates
Sec. Robert Gates is one of the people who politicized intelligence. He is one of the people we thought we were voting out of office. He will use his remaining time to destroy evidence of torture and fraud. We need a new Sec. of Defense.

The Ingenesist Project
The "Economy" is not real. It's imaginary. Let it die, so that something else may live. We made it up, now is our chance to build on what we learned and implement a system that puts the human collective first. It's time to fix the unsustainable systems that were born out of the Industrial Age. Lets ring in the new Innovation Economy.

retirement
Retirement should not be just tied to the stock market (401) or social security, but, like taxes that help fuel a government, guaranteed government securities should be made either mandatory or optional for one’s retirement portfolio. This kind of “tax” incentive might help government “collect” funds without having people find ways to reduce paying taxes.

Save auto industry
We can not allow the cascading effect to the manufacturing industry in the US that would result from the failure of the Big 3 auto makers. Now is a time for real leadership which neither President Bush nor the current Democratic Congressional leadership appear willing to accept. Hopefully change implies a willingness to be bold and even temporaily unpopular in the face of the country's current economic crisis. The President elect has indicated support for government measures, but time is critical and if the current administration and Congress will not act now, he should step up to the plate and…

Charge or Release the Guantanamo Detainees
We've been detaining suspected enemy combatants at Guantanamo Bay for years now. We need to restore our reputation in the world, and that starts with respecting our own standards for Habeas Corpus. We need to charge each of the detainees, or release them. Holding people without charge - even so-called bad guys - undermines the rule of law and gives terrorists fodder for recruiting, making us less safe than if we just tried or released the detainees.

Get rid of the electoral college
Presidents should be elected by popular vote! Everyone talked about this in 2000 and 2004 when half of us were disenfranchised, but it's all but forgotten once someone gets into the White House. Let's elect our President as an entire country, not as Red and Blue states.

The New Energy Deal
The New Energy Deal would be designed with two goals in mind -- U.S. energy independence and to stimulate the economy with new energy related jobs. Energy independence and new job creation would come from the construction on nuclear plants, new drilling off shore, Wind turbine creation, clean coal, and as a result of plugin hybrid technology being embraced. The U.S. would be investing in our future with an energy infrastructure overall. We shouldn't wait until oil is over $100 a barrel again -- when we can take steps today to become energy independent. GM should have assistance to upgrade…

use the $25B to replace the government fleet with hybrids
By replacing the 650,000 vehicle government fleet with hybrid vehicles, we put GM employees to work, save $500M per year in fuel costs and can refit the old GOV's to be hybrid and give them to the states.
Congress should OK the bailout to do this.6 votes -
Give 25B to Detroit
Rather than loaning 25B to a group of companies that will have trouble paying and still leave them weak and ineffective. Take the approach of giving them 25B to keep in business for another year. Allocate 5B for 10 Years to split research with them for next generation cars. And force 40 MPG in 10 years. Maybe they will not survive to the end but at least the country's energy efficiency will improve.

Bring back the fireside chat that FDR created. Make it lo-fi thing. Tell us what's going on, answer email, keep us engaged. Make it a podcast, could be a video, distribute it everywhere. Invite guests... don't make it scripted. Just one more thing to drive transparency.

Make all insurance and medical costs pre-tax
If you don't get your Health Insurance from your employer, you pay in post-tax funds. If you do, it's pre-tax.
A simple way to help people out would be to make all insurance and medical expenses to be deductible from your gross income regardless of whether it's self-insured or employer-insured.
